? Why Lifeguard Training Matters on the Oregon Coast

Oregons coastal waters present unique challenges from strong rip currents to steep drop-offs and unpredictable tides. Trained lifeguards are essential for spotting danger early and performing rapid rescues.

Recent rescues, including stranded youths on Chapman Point and a 19-year-old swept away near Haystack Rock, highlight the critical role lifeguards play on Cannon Beachs dynamic shoreline.

? Professional Growth & Community Impact

Working as a lifeguard at Cannon Beach offers more than just a summer paycheck:

  • Real-world training: First aid, CPR, surf rescue, and communication

  • Leadership development: Lifeguards are often the first responders on scene

  • Public education role: Lifeguards often provide beach safety tips and preventative guidance to tourists and locals
